Position Summary

ProQuality Network is seeking a Process Development Scientist to support our client at their Puerto Rico operations. This role is responsible for conceiving, designing, and executing scientific experiments that contribute to process development, optimization, and project success. The selected candidate will work under general supervision while applying advanced scientific principles, strong data analysis skills, and cGMP knowledge in a regulated environment.


Preferred Qualifications

1. Automated Visual Inspection (AVI) Expertise (Highly Desired)

  • Formal training or hands-on experience with vision systems such as:
  • Cognex, Systech, Syntegon, Koerber, A3 CVP, PDA 593
  • Direct experience with automated visual inspection systems, including:
  • Machine vision–based inspection platforms
  • Camera systems, lighting optimization, and optics
  • Image acquisition and defect detection logic
  • Knowledge of AVI system qualification and validation:
  • IQ, OQ, PQ
  • Performance qualification using defect kits
  • Experience developing or supporting:
  • Inspection recipes
  • Defect libraries and defect standards
  • Sensitivity optimization and false reject reduction
  • Familiarity with correlation between manual and automated inspection processes


2. Data, Statistics & Digital Skills (Preferred)

  • Strong statistical knowledge, including:
  • Sampling plans (AQL, zero acceptance, etc.)
  • Inspection capability studies
  • Measurement System Analysis (MSA)
  • Experience with data analysis tools such as:
  • JMP, Minitab, Python, or equivalent
  • Ability to analyze large inspection datasets to:
  • Trend defect rates
  • Support process improvement initiatives
  • Drive inspection and control strategies


Key Responsibilities

  • Conceive, design, execute, evaluate, and interpret experimental strategies
  • Provide scientific input into new and existing processes to generate robust and reliable data
  • Ensure studies are conducted in compliance with approved protocols, cGMPs, and applicable regulations
  • Design, monitor, and conduct experiments with general guidance from a supervisor
  • Analyze and interpret data, assessing its impact on project objectives
  • Maintain current knowledge in scientific discipline through literature review and technology monitoring
  • Communicate relevant scientific observations and emerging trends
  • Introduce advanced scientific methods and novel experimental approaches when appropriate
  • Develop and implement new protocols to address specific technical challenges
  • Represent the department on cross-functional project teams under senior scientific guidance
  • Initiate and support collaborations within and outside the organization
  • Advise colleagues on experimental design, data interpretation, and problem resolution
  • Independently author scientific reports, summaries, regulatory documentation, invention disclosures, and/or patent submissions
  • Participate in the external scientific community as applicable
  • Support department-wide initiatives such as safety, recruiting, and committee participation
  • Develop mentoring and leadership skills as applicable
  • Establish and manage timelines to ensure timely completion of project deliverables


Education Requirements

  • Doctorate degree OR
  • Master’s degree plus two (2) years of scientific experience OR
  • Bachelor’s degree plus four (4) years of scientific experience

  • Solid understanding of cGMP principles and regulatory compliance
  • Fully bilingual in English and Spanish
